I have to say i am utterly excited for the new tron movie. Every trailer i see on it seems to scream "AHHHHHHHHHHH GO SEE ME!!!!" maybe even more exclamation points. But with the combined efforts of a good cast and the amazingness that is Daft Punk i cannot see where this movie will go wrong with me

CD of the week: 30 Seconds to Mars "This is War"

Thus the panic of finals begins. I have my final few classes of the quarter this week and next week, which will gratefully lead into a flight home for the week and then an escapade on the beach for a few days.

pull list for Aug 18

Very small pull list this week not much interested me except these 3 books

Batman Beyond 3 of 6
Continuing the story of Hush in the Batman beyond universe in his attempts to kill Batman villians new and old. If you are a fan of Batman i suggest picking this one up

Green Lantern Corps #51
Continuing the attack of the alpha lanterns storyline. I don't find this story line as appealing as older ones, but i find the characterization of ganthet to make it an auto pickup for GL fans

Brighest Day #8
After the reveal of what everything means with the return of the heroes and villains during blackest night last issue this issue slows it down, much to my dislike. There are a couple more reveals in the issue but it seems slow and kind of dull. Pass it.

Well thats my list for the week hopefully it helped you a little on those 3 comics

Boderlands review

Borderlands
PC
2009
This is a fun filled romp across a very imaginative and well fleshed out world that's sort of a mix between Mad Max and Diablo. It has a system of loot drops like Diablo but has a first person real time fighting system that has you trekking on foot and riding around in a dune buggy killing the many residents of Pandora as they try to kill you. The best part of this game has got to be the voice acting and the basic characterizations on the planet, they are some of the most imaginative takes on npc's(none player characters) that i have pretty much ever seen. Have it be the redneck owner of the buggy portals who wants you to "catch'a ride with da scotter man" or the ever increasing insanity of a certain explorer as told through her scattered recordings. The game itself is quite engrossing and i say its best played with 2-3 other buddies. Having played it both ways, single and with 2 other friends, i have to say hearing the constant chatter between us as we run, fight, die, and talk loot it turns this fun experience into something memorable.
The game isn't without flaws, the story sort of tapers off a bit in the end. Not enough to stop you from playing but enough for you to go Eh. And playing it multiplayer with unlucky people can sometimes leave you with a whole lot of one sided drops for 1 particular character in your party. Overall though I extremely enjoyed this game and would recommend it fully to anyone who asks.

8.5/10

Until next time

The End (of summer)

It's about that time of year folks, the leaves are about to fall off the trees and the kiddies are going back to school. Must say that it has been a pretty decent overall summer, with many twists, turns and a what a twist ending circa M. Night Shamalamadingdong. Thanks to those that made it great, and a big ol' DIF to those that made it bad. I just want you all to know that you touched me deeply, and now im calling the police.

The future

I hope to get back into the swing of my old posts and do at least a pull list of the weeks comics, and maybe a game review every couple weeks

Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness

I find the current state of the box office to be such a sad subject. With the way that firstly Kick-Ass was received months back and now Scott Pilgrim I think that something is inherently wrong with today's movie goers. For those that don't know this weekend Scott Pilgrim opened at #5 in the box office, which is quite disheartening when the reviews for the movie are so positive. It seems that the modern movie goer just wants to take the safe bet and not branch out and see movies that try things differently. It just boggles my mind because I know if they saw that different movie, like Scott Pilgrim it would completely and utterly blow their minds. Well that's just my 2 cents /end rant.

Legion

we are of many worlds yet of one, we are the beginning yet we are the end of all things, we grant life yet take it away in a single breath, we are the one, we are the many, we are legion.

O.o

Being busy sucks, that being said i will make up that last few weeks with at least a pull list for both as well as a game review or 2 extra this week.

Game review: Mass Effect 1 and 2

This week i will be reviewing Mass Effect and its sequel. The original game is one of my favorite rpg's. But changing systems from xbox 360 to the pc version of the second id thought id do the first game again to use a transfered character in the second game. Going through and playing it the second time i'm finding a lot more flaws in this game that i thought was near perfect a couple years back. Some of my major gripes with the game are the inventory and combat system, both of which are fixed in the sequel. In the second game you are given a small cache of weapons and spend your time upgrading said weapons. The combat is much improved in the second game cover fully covers you unlike the first and it is much more satisfying. With these two changes and multiple small other changes between the two games it really shows that Bioware is listening to the gripes of the fans. The major flaw, in my opinion, in the second game is the lake of sure size that the first game has. You just don't get the same feel from the citadel in the second game which is reduced to just the human embassy. Those are the few flaws i saw in both games and how they relate to each other.
Now what i find utterly enjoyable about both games is just the amount of information and dialog that permeates through the games. It shows real love for the work that the developers worked so hard on. Possibly the greatest thing is the connectivity between the two games what you do in the first game shows up in the second whether you help a character makes it depend if hes in the second game. Overall these two games turn into my favorite rpg of all time and both are a definite pickup and i cant wait til the third game

Mass Effect 1(2010 playing)- 7/10
Mass Effect 2- 10/10

Until next time
Stay Frosty Heroes,

afterthought: Oh i didnt mention the fail of the maiko car in the first game a welcome axe in the second game.

Iron Man 2 review and comic pickups of the week

Song of the week Imogen Heap "Hide and Seek"

Went and saw Iron man 2 this last week and have to say i really enjoyed it. A lot of reviewers have been downplaying it saying its not good and/or not as good as the first, and i disagree. The movie itself is a different beast it doesn't have the same WOW factor of the first and by that i mean when you went to see the original you weren't expecting to see a really great movie with really great acting in it. This time around you get the same good acting with a slightly less good story. Though i must say i really enjoyed the character development and the introduction of characters were well done. I do wish they wouldn't have said that the Black widow was in it at all, would have made her later appearances alot more enjoyable. overall i think id give it a 9/10 definitely a must see for action fans as well as comics fans.

All right my pull list of the week was, btw this was one of the best weeks in a long while.

Prince of Power #1- Amadeus Cho is the new CEO of the Olympus group and using all his resources to find his best bud Herc.-pickup
Siege #4- End of the Siege epic what will happen to our heroes with the sentry/void out of control.-pickup
The Sentry: Fallen Sun- Can't say much about this comic its the epilogue to the whole Siege storyline.- if you like the sentry pick it up
The Return of Bruce Wayne #1- Grant Morrison's Grand return of Bruce Wayne- pickup
New Mutants #13- The cross x-comics second coming storyline continues- pickup
War of the Supermen #2- Superman at his best, this whole storyline has gotten me into this character, who i thought was boring due to his overabundance of powers. It really goes the distance- pickup
Justice League: Generation Lost #1- Everyone's after Maxwell Lord after his resurrection in Blackest Night.- pickup
The Flash #2- Continuing the wanted storyline which looks to be good the rogues from the future, which are time cops, are after Barry for killing one of there members. The murder itself hasn't happened yet but the craziness ensues.- pickup

Overall one of the best weeks of the year finishing some epic stories, siege, and starting new ones , The return of Bruce Wayne. And i can't wait to see where certain personal favorites go.

Until later,
Stay Frosty Heroes

Every week i hope to review my comic pickups and hopefully provide you with information to help you with your choices. Also i will try to review a game once a month, sometimes it will be a new game sometime it will be an old classic. So until next time heroes, as a friend once said, stay frosty heroes.
